Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding a piano hidden in her attic and being captivated by the sounds it produced. Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to do music just for pleasure or for the sake of growing, but that she should explore it. In order to do so she wrote her first original compositions. Her inspirations include famous writers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her love of Bjork's style. She decided to start performing the songs she wrote publicly after her mother suggested that they can help other people, not to gain fame with her work, but instead help those around them see the importance of their work and how they impact the world. Her mother suggested that she sing her songs in public so that people can see their importance and the ways they impact the world. Her family didn't have any idea about it until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora's accomplishments were never the goal of her. The singer says that she simply likes creating music. She claims that music is her most preferred way of feeling something.
